Unit 7 Topic 2
Using Unity Formulae
How can limit formulae be used in assessing and changing glazes?
The information given in limit formulae tables enable sensible choices to be made about the raw materials to use in a glaze recipe.

If you click the wrong answer you will be taken back to review the information on this subject

Limit formulae provide a basis for assessing the behaviour of a particular glaze if fired to a target cone (temperature).
The exact nature of a glaze may be predicted before firing by studying the limit formula table for the target firing temperature.
The limit formulae for a given temperature say which oxides should or should not be used in a glaze.
