Go to contents

We will assume that you have taken a digital picture of your glaze and it is stored in a location other than the Matrix folder on your computer.

The next task is to associate this image with its recipe which you will have saved as an individual file or will have saved into a recipe database.

Attaching a Glaze Picture to the Recipe File

When you have saved the recipe and it is displayed in one of the recipe panel in the Matrix Recipe to Formula window click the button located on the tool bar below the recipe panel.

This opens the Glaze Picture window which initially will be empty until some images have been "attached" to the recipe.

In the Glaze Picture window click on the "Activate" button below and image space and then click on the

When you load a glaze picture into one of the spaces in the glaze picture window Matrix will make a copy of that image and store it in the same directory that contains the recipe or recipe database. The stored picture will have the same name as the original recipe with a number indicating its position in the 6-space glaze picture window. e.g.

  • "New Thompson-1_rec.jpg", - this is the image that will appear in the main Matrix window
  • "New Thompson-2_rec.jpg" etc.

Fig.1 Attaching a glaze picture to a recipe file.

This is an image of the glaze picture window. One picture has been loaded into the window.

There are spaces for 5 more images.

When you click the Load Image button a file manager window opens for you to locate the picture stored on you computer.

The glaze picture you will attach and save with the recipe must have been previously created and processed before proceeding with the process described here.

This would normally be done in an image processing application such as Photoshop.

The file manager window which opens when you click the Load Image button is shown below. You will need to navigate to the location of your original picture. When you click the Save button (or double click on the file name) the picture should appear in the Glaze Picture window.

Attaching a Note to a Glaze Image in the Glaze Picture Window

When you have loaded a glaze image you can record a short note for the image. This note is limited to 250 characters. If you wish to record a longer note then use the text file for the image.
