An important and necessary function in any glaze software programme is the ability to locate similar materials which may be substituted for materials not available.

MATRIX provides a special window for this function

The example in this window shows the results of a search for feldspars which match Potash Feldspar 200FPR.

With a tolerence level set at 0.3 i.e. MATRIX is searching for materials which have the same oxides +/- 0.3 mols the levels of those in Potash Feldspar 200FPR Feldspar.  This tolerence level can be reduced to find closer matches.

The appropriate alternative materials are shown in the list.

A further option allows for the location of materials which simply match the presence of oxides in the target material without taking molecular values into account.
