Matrix - Intel Mac Owners
Home

Matrix will run on Macintosh computers that have Intel chips which enable them to run Windows software. Here is some recent feedback from an Intel Mac owner who is running Matrix on her computer:

December 28 2007

"I am taking a glaze course from Gail Nichols at ANU and have started using your Matrix program.  It looks really good so far!  I am using it on my Mac and wanted to share my experience with you in case other Mac users contact you with questions.

I tested Matrix on my Intel Mac (Leopard 10.5.1)

It worked really well on Fusion 1.1 and on Parallels Desktop (3.0 build 5582).  I am working with Parallels now. These have the advantage over Bootcamp  in that you can run the Windows and Mac platforms simultaneously as there is no need to separate them.  This is handy if you want to check info you have organized on your Mac while using Matrix, eg old glaze files.

Also tried Crossover and encountered one problem.  The blends worksheet can be created but would not display.  There appears to be a problem with Matrix finding the file.  However, you can “save as PDF” and see it and it prints fine.  In Red Deer Gail encountered this problem on someone’s older non-Intel Mac.  We also thought that the printed copies were all mixed up, but I suspect that was due more to a log-jam in the printer queue caused by the difficulties we had installing a printer.

In any event, I would recommend Parallels or Fusion. I know you and Gail have suggested purchasing an old PC, but that is against the religion in our house

Hope this info is useful."

January 14 2008 (update)

I have a correction to my earlier message about using Matrix on a Mac.

If you use Crossover, the blends worksheet will not display(as noted earlier), but within Matrix it can be saved and can be printed.  Ignore my earlier idea about saving as pdf – I was thinking with my Mac hat on rather my Windows hat.

I tried trying to locate the blends worksheet file within the program files on the c drive equivalent, but it still wouldn’t display.  However, it isn’t a major problem as the data is there and is printable right within Matrix.  Given a choice though, Parallels works better without this difficulty.
